# McGowan Peak

**McGowan Peak** (variant name **McGown Peak**) is a peak in the [Sawtooth Range](/source/Sawtooth_Range_(Idaho)) of [Idaho](/source/Idaho) that is 9,860 feet (3,010 m) above sea level. The peak is located in the [Sawtooth Wilderness](/source/Sawtooth_Wilderness) of [Sawtooth National Recreation Area](/source/Sawtooth_National_Recreation_Area) in [Custer County](/source/Custer_County,_Idaho). The peak is located 3.25 mi (5.23 km) north-northwest of [Alpine Peak](/source/Alpine_Peak_(Idaho)), its [line parent](/source/Line_parent). McGowan Peak rises above the southwest end of [Stanley Lake](/source/Stanley_Lake).[1][2][3]
