'''Maynard Electronics''' was an American company based in [Lake Mary, Florida](/source/Lake_Mary%2C_Florida) that produced [magnetic tape data storage](/source/magnetic_tape_data_storage) related products.<ref name="behist">[https://web.archive.org/web/20060822134034/http://www.backupexec.com/presskit/BackupExec-history.pdf History] of Backup Exec.</ref>

The company was founded by Kim and Alison Knapp in 1982. It was acquired by [Archive Corp.](/source/Archive_Corp.) in 1989, but the brand was maintained. In order to make it easier to sell [tape drives](/source/tape_drives), the company created driver software that came to be called '''MaynStream'''. After [Conner Peripherals](/source/Conner_Peripherals) acquired Archive, the software product was renamed '''[Backup Exec](/source/Backup_Exec)'''.<ref name="behist"/>
