Maya Anne Ford, was born on January 8, 1979, in [Oakland, California](/source/Oakland%2C_California), on the same day as her former band member [Torry Castellano](/source/Torry_Castellano). She met future bandmates Torry Castellano, [Brett Anderson](/source/Brett_Anderson_(The_Donnas)) and [Allison Robertson](/source/Allison_Robertson) in junior high school.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/article/Mayhem-and-mood-swings-a-day-with-the-Donnas-2676731.php|title=Mayhem and mood swings -- a day with the Donnas|date=2004-11-06|website=SFGate|access-date=2016-03-21}}</ref> They formed a band in 8th grade called Ragady Anne, later calling themselves The Electrocutes at [Palo Alto High School](/source/Palo_Alto_High_School).
