Reverend '''Maximin Alff''', SS.CC., (24 July 1866 – 17 May 1923) was born in [Trier](/source/Trier), [Germany](/source/Germany). He completed his theological studies at [Louvain, Belgium](/source/Louvain%2C_Belgium), and was professed a member of the [Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary](/source/Congregation_of_the_Sacred_Hearts_of_Jesus_and_Mary) in 1887.<ref name="starbulletin"/> He was for a time professor of philosophy at [Miranda de Ebro](/source/Miranda_de_Ebro), Spain. He came to [Honolulu](/source/Honolulu) from Spain, arriving on 25 October 1894.<ref name="advert"/> He occupied several positions with the church in [Hawaii](/source/Hawaii), as pastor at [South Kona](/source/South_Kona), [Koloa](/source/Koloa) and [Hana](/source/Hana%2C_Hawaii). He then went to [Maui](/source/Maui), where he was pastor of the [Wailuku](/source/Wailuku) church. He became provincial of the Catholic mission on 12 August 1912, and remained in Honolulu since that time. He died on 17 May 1923 and was buried in the [King Street Catholic Cemetery](/source/Honolulu_Catholic_Cemetery).<ref name="starbulletin"/><ref name="rocca"/>
