'''Max Sering''' (18 January 1857 – 12 November 1939) was a [German](/source/German_people) [economist](/source/Economics).  Sering was considered the most famous German agricultural economist of his time; his students briefly included [Otto von Habsburg](/source/Otto_von_Habsburg).

Sering studied in both [Strasbourg](/source/Strasbourg) and [Leipzig](/source/Leipzig), before entering the civil service in [Alsace](/source/Alsace) in 1879. In 1883 he was sent by the [Prussian government](/source/Kingdom_of_Prussia) to [North America](/source/North_America) to study agricultural [competition](/source/Competition_(economics)).
