# Max Raoul

**Max Raoul** or **Vandière**, real name Raoul François Chapais, (c.1770 – [Paris](/source/Paris) 5 March 1839) was a 19th-century French [playwright](/source/Playwright).

A former employee at the [customs](/source/Customs) in [Rouen](/source/Rouen), his [plays](/source/Play_(theatre)) were presented on several Parisian stages of the 19th century, including the [Théâtre du Palais-Royal](/source/Th%C3%A9%C3%A2tre_du_Palais-Royal), the [Théâtre du Gymnase-Dramatique](/source/Th%C3%A9%C3%A2tre_du_Gymnase-Dramatique), and the [Théâtre du Vaudeville](/source/Th%C3%A9%C3%A2tre_du_Vaudeville).
