==Biography==
Post was born in [Haarlem](/source/Haarlem), the son of the architect [Pieter Post](/source/Pieter_Post), and was probably his assistant, as he took over his father's projects when he died in 1669, and continued working in the neo-classical style.<ref name=RKD>[https://rkd.nl/en/explore/artists/92399 Maurits Post] in the [RKD](/source/RKD)</ref> He worked in Siegen, The Hague, Dieren, [Honselersdijk](/source/Honselersdijk), Soestdijk, and Zuilenstein.<ref name=RKD/> He became the architect for [Stadtholder](/source/Stadtholder) [William III of Orange](/source/William_III_of_England) from 1672 until his own early death at [The Hague](/source/The_Hague) in 1677.<ref>{{cite book|author1=Stefan van Raaij|author2=Paul Spies|title=The Royal Progress of William and Mary|publisher=D'Arts/De Bataafsche Leeuw|year=1988|ISBN=9067071919|page=21}}</ref><ref name=RKD/> Famous buildings include [Castle Amerongen](/source/Castle_Amerongen), the [Prinzenhof](/source/Prinzenhof) palace in [Kleve](/source/Kleve), and the royal palaces [Soestdijk Palace](/source/Soestdijk_Palace), [Huis ten Bosch Palace](/source/Huis_ten_Bosch_Palace) and [Noordeinde Palace](/source/Noordeinde_Palace).
