**Mattia Zanotti** (born 11 January 2003) is an Italian professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [right-back](/source/Defender_(association_football)#Full-back) for [Swiss Super League](/source/Swiss_Super_League) club [Lugano](/source/FC_Lugano).

## Club career

Zanotti played for Virtus Feralpi Lonato and [Brescia](/source/Brescia_Calcio), before joining [Inter Milan](/source/Inter_Milan)'s youth academy in 2017.[3] In October 2021, Zanotti signed a four-year professional contract with the *Nerazzurri*.[4]

On 12 December 2021, he made his [Serie A](/source/Serie_A) debut for Inter Milan, coming on as a substitute in the 83rd minute of a 4–0 [league](/source/2021%E2%80%9322_Serie_A) win over [Cagliari](/source/Cagliari_Calcio).[5][6]

Shortly after extending his contract with the club until 2027,[7][8] on 3 July 2023, Zanotti officially joined [Swiss Super League](/source/Swiss_Super_League) club [St. Gallen](/source/FC_St._Gallen) on a season-long loan.[8][9][10] On 22 July, he made his debut for the club in a 2–1 [league](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_Swiss_Super_League) win over [Basel](/source/FC_Basel).[11] On 28 October, he scored his first professional goal and served two assists in a 3–1 league win over [Grasshoppers](/source/Grasshopper_Club_Z%C3%BCrich).[12] Throughout the [season](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_Swiss_Super_League), he helped St. Gallen qualify for the [second qualifying round](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_UEFA_Conference_League#Second_qualifying_round) of the [UEFA Conference League](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_UEFA_Conference_League).[13][14]

On 13 July 2024, Zanotti joined Swiss Super League club [Lugano](/source/FC_Lugano) on a permanent deal, signing a four-year contract.[15][16]

## International career

Zanotti is a youth international for Italy, having represented the [Italy U15s](/source/Italy_national_under-15_football_team), [U16s](/source/Italy_national_under-16_football_team), [U17s](/source/Italy_national_under-17_football_team) and [U19s](/source/Italy_national_under-19_football_team).[17]

In May 2023, he was included in the [Italy U20](/source/Italy_national_under-20_football_team) squad that took part in the [FIFA U-20 World Cup](/source/2023_FIFA_U-20_World_Cup) in [Argentina](/source/Argentina),[18] where the *Azzurrini* finished runners-up after losing to [Uruguay](/source/Uruguay_national_under-20_football_team) in the final match.[19][20]

On 8 September 2023, he made his debut for the [Italy under-21 national team](/source/Italy_national_under-21_football_team), starting in a goalless draw against [Latvia](/source/Latvia_national_under-21_football_team) in the [2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers](/source/2025_UEFA_European_Under-21_Championship_qualification).[21][22]
