**Matthew David McQueen**[1] (born May 20, 1984),[2] better known by his stage name **Matthewdavid**, is an American record producer and DJ based in [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles), [California](/source/California).[5] He is a co-founder of Leaving Records.[6] He has collaborated with Sun Araw,[7] Dog Bite,[8] and [Serengeti](/source/Serengeti_(rapper)).[9]

## Early life

Matthewdavid was born in [Atlanta](/source/Atlanta), [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(U.S._state)).[10] As a child, he took guitar lessons and piano lessons.[5] At the age of 14, he moved to [Gulf Breeze, Florida](/source/Gulf_Breeze%2C_Florida) with his family.[10] At the age of 15, he started making music.[5] He attended [Florida State University](/source/Florida_State_University).[10] In 2006, he moved to [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles), [California](/source/California).[11] He interned at [Plug Research](/source/Plug_Research) and [Dublab](/source/Dublab).[12]

## Career

In 2008, Matthewdavid and Jesse Moretti co-founded Leaving Records.[12] His debut studio album, *[Outmind](/source/Outmind)*, was released on [Brainfeeder](/source/Brainfeeder) in 2011.[13] The follow-up studio album, *[In My World](/source/In_My_World_(Matthewdavid_album))*, was released on Brainfeeder in 2014.[14] Under the moniker Matthewdavid's Mindflight, he released *Trust the Guide and Glide* in 2016,[15] and *Ophiuchus* in 2017.[16]
