**Matthew Gilkes** (born 21 August 1999) is an Australian [cricketer](/source/Cricket) who plays for [South Australia](/source/South_Australia_cricket_team), having previously played for [New South Wales](/source/New_South_Wales_cricket_team).[1] He made his [Twenty20](/source/Twenty20) debut for the [Sydney Thunder](/source/Sydney_Thunder) against the [Perth Scorchers](/source/Perth_Scorchers) on 24 January 2019 during the [2018-19 Big Bash League season](/source/2018-19_Big_Bash_League_season).[2] He made his [List A](/source/List_A_cricket) debut for New South Wales, on 30 September 2019, in the [2019–20 Marsh One-Day Cup](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Marsh_One-Day_Cup).[3] He made his [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) debut on 1 November 2019, for New South Wales in the [2019–20 Sheffield Shield season](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Sheffield_Shield_season).[4]
