**Matteo Guardalben** (born 5 June 1974) is an Italian former professional [football](/source/Association_football) [goalkeeper](/source/Goalkeeper_(association_football)).

## Club career

Guardalben was born in [Nogara](/source/Nogara), [Province of Verona](/source/Province_of_Verona). After five seasons with Parma, Guardalben (along with [Nicola Mora](/source/Nicola_Mora) and [Matuzalém](/source/Matuzal%C3%A9m)) joined [Piacenza](/source/Piacenza_Calcio) in a [co-ownership](/source/Co-ownership_(football)) deal. Half of Guardalben's rights was valued for 3 billion [lire](/source/Italian_lira).[1]

Guardalben was exchanged with [Cristiano Lupatelli](/source/Cristiano_Lupatelli) in January 2006.

Guardalben signed a three-year contract with [Vicenza](/source/Vicenza_Calcio) of Serie B in July 2006,[2][3] as [Adriano Zancopè](/source/Adriano_Zancop%C3%A8)'s backup, but he was injured in October[4] and back to squad in May 2007.[5]

In the next season, he became the first choice since November 2007, until February 2008 the arrival of [Marco Fortin](/source/Marco_Fortin).

In summer 2009, he was signed by Serie A club [Sampdoria](/source/UC_Sampdoria) as third-choice keeper, and never played a single game during his stay with the *blucerchiati*. In July 2010 he was signed by Serie B club [Modena](/source/Modena_FC) in a free transfer.

## International career

In 2005, Guardalben was called up three times by the [Italy national football team](/source/Italy_national_football_team), all as unused [substitute](/source/Substitute_(football)).
