Corboy took up acting in 1996, and has appeared in many [commercial](/source/Television_advertisement)s, [film](/source/film)s, and had one-time guest roles in [television series](/source/Television_show). His best-known role was on ''[The Shield](/source/The_Shield)'', where he appeared as Officer Ray Carlson in 17 episodes. In 2011, he played Cousin Ralph in ''[The Descendants](/source/The_Descendants)'', which received widespread critical acclaim and multiple awards including an [Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay](/source/Academy_Award_for_Best_Adapted_Screenplay).

While growing up in [Hawaii](/source/Hawaii), Corboy would play [poker](/source/poker) with his friends.
