A member of the [Socialist Party](/source/Socialist_Party_(France)) since 1992, he is also President of the [Departmental Council](/source/Departmental_council_(France)) of [Meurthe-et-Moselle](/source/Meurthe-et-Moselle). == Early life and education ==

== Political career ==

In 1994, in [Nancy](/source/Nancy%2C_France), he founded an [LGBT association](/source/LGBT_community), dedicated to the promotion of equality and fighting against [homophobia](/source/homophobia).

Following the [2002 French presidential election](/source/2002_French_presidential_election), he joined the New Socialist Party.
