# Mason Tvert

**Mason Tvert** is an American [marijuana rights](/source/Marijuana_rights) activist, founder of [Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation](/source/Safer_Alternative_For_Enjoyable_Recreation), and current communications director for the [Marijuana Policy Project](/source/Marijuana_Policy_Project) in [Colorado](/source/Colorado).[1] He has been described as the "[Don Draper](/source/Don_Draper) of Pot" by [Politico](/source/Politico) which also considers him to be one of the primary factors in the legalization of personal use of [marijuana](/source/Marijuana) in Colorado.[2] At one point in his advocacy he was known to have challenged [John Hickenlooper](/source/John_Hickenlooper) and Pete Coors to a contest that Tvert would take a puff on a joint for every beer they drank.[1]
