**Masao Kitagawa** (北川 政夫, *Kitagawa Masao*; 1910–1995) was a Japanese [botanist](/source/Botanist) and [pteridologist](/source/Pteridologist). He spent most of his academic career at [Yokohama National University](/source/Yokohama_National_University).

In 1986, a Russian botanist Michael Georgievich Pimenov published a genus of [flowering plants](/source/Flowering_plant), from central Asia, belonging to the family [Apiaceae](/source/Apiaceae), as *[Kitagawia](/source/Kitagawia)* in his honour.[1]

The standard [author abbreviation](/source/List_of_botanists_by_author_abbreviation_(A)) Kitag. is used to indicate this person as the author when [citing](/source/Author_citation_(botany)) a [botanical name](/source/Botanical_name).[2]
