==Early life and education==
Mary Gray-Reeves was born in [Coral Gables, Florida](/source/Coral_Gables%2C_Florida), in 1962 and grew up in the Miami neighborhood of [Coconut Grove](/source/Coconut_Grove%2C_Florida), where she attended St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. After high school, she attended [California State University, Fullerton](/source/California_State_University%2C_Fullerton), from which she received a [Bachelor of Arts](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) degree in history in 1987. After her decision to seek [holy orders](/source/holy_orders), she and her husband, Michael Reeves, went to [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand) because she could attend [theological school](/source/seminary) at [St John's College, Auckland](/source/St_John's_College%2C_Auckland), while he could attend to his business which involved much travel in the western [Pacific](/source/Pacific). After she and her husband returned to California, she was ordained [deacon](/source/deacon) and then [priest](/source/priest) in the [Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles](/source/Episcopal_Diocese_of_Los_Angeles). After being assistant rector of two churches in that diocese, she and her husband returned to the Miami area where she became rector of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in [Miami Lakes](/source/Miami_Lakes%2C_Florida). At the 2008 meeting of the [Lambeth Conferences](/source/Lambeth_Conferences) of the [Anglican Communion](/source/Anglican_Communion), Bishops Mary Gray-Reeves of [El Camino Real](/source/Episcopal_Diocese_of_El_Camino_Real), [Michael Perham](/source/Michael_Perham_(bishop)) of [Gloucester](/source/Gloucester), and Gerard Mpango of Western Tanganyika formed a partnership of their dioceses.
