His first job in theatre was as a designer for Wiseguise Theatre, Glasgow. He designed productions at the [Traverse Theatre](/source/Traverse_Theatre), Edinburgh and the [Tron Theatre](/source/Tron_Theatre), Glasgow. Ledwith moved to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art ([RADA](/source/RADA)). At RADA he studied Stanislavski technique with [Doreen Cannon](/source/Doreen_Cannon) and voice with Robert Palmer. ## Stage career Ledwith's first role after leaving RADA was in the [Royal Court](/source/Royal_Court_Theatre) production of *The Future Is Betamax* at the [Ambassadors Theatre](/source/Ambassadors_Theatre_(London)) in London's [West End](/source/West_End_of_London). His most recent stage role was as [Sir Arthur Conan Doyle](/source/Sir_Arthur_Conan_Doyle) in [Harvey Weinstein](/source/Harvey_Weinstein)'s production of [Finding Neverland](/source/Finding_Neverland_(musical)) directed by [Rob Ashford](/source/Rob_Ashford) at the [Curve theatre](/source/Curve_(theatre)), [Leicester](/source/Leicester). ## Screen career Ledwith's first screen role was in *[The Crow Road](/source/The_Crow_Road_(TV_series))* (BBC) in 1996. He is probably best known for his regular roles in two TV series. In *[Heartbeat](/source/Heartbeat_(British_TV_series))* (Yorkshire Television), he played the role of cheating philanderer Andy Ryan in series 9 (1999). In 2001–2002, Ledwith was a regular in *[Holby City](/source/Holby_City)* (BBC) playing the part of Fr Michael, who committed suicide after having an illicit affair with a nurse. Other roles have included guest appearances in *[Taggart](/source/Taggart)* (STV), *[The Whistle-Bowler](/source/The_Whistle-Blower_(TV_series))* (BBC), *[Monarch of the Glen](/source/Monarch_of_the_Glen_(TV_series))* (BBC) and *Superbugs* ([WGBH-TV](/source/WGBH-TV) Boston). ## Acting coach Ledwith is an acting coach and consultant for film, theatre and television. He originally taught Stanislavski Technique at London's City Lit.
