# Martin Iti

**Martin Asapa Iti**[1] (born 28 February 1983) is a New Zealand-Australian professional [basketball](/source/Basketball) player who last played for the Brisbane Spartans of the [South East Australian Basketball League](/source/South_East_Australian_Basketball_League) (SEABL). As a high school senior at [Mount Zion Christian Academy](/source/Mount_Zion_Christian_Academy), Iti was rated as the No. 8 high school recruit in the nation and the No. 1 high school centre in the country.[2] He played [college basketball](/source/College_basketball) for the [University of North Carolina at Charlotte](/source/University_of_North_Carolina_at_Charlotte) and [New Mexico State University](/source/New_Mexico_State_University).[2]

## Professional career

In September 2008, Iti signed with the [Rotterdam Challengers](/source/Challenge_Sports_Rotterdam) of the Netherlands for the 2008–09 season.[3] In 32 games for Rotterdam, he averaged 6.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.

In February 2010, Iti signed with the [Southland Sharks](/source/Southland_Sharks) for the [2010 New Zealand NBL season](/source/2010_New_Zealand_NBL_season).[4][5] He went on to earn league [Rookie of the Year](/source/New_Zealand_NBL_Rookie_of_the_Year_Award) honours.[6] In December 2010, he re-signed with the Sharks for the [2011 season](/source/2011_New_Zealand_NBL_season).[7]

In August 2011, Iti signed with the [Sydney Kings](/source/Sydney_Kings) for the [2011–12 NBL season](/source/2011%E2%80%9312_NBL_season).[8] In 16 games for the Kings, he averaged 0.6 points and 0.8 rebounds per game.[9]

In December 2011, Iti signed with the [Wellington Saints](/source/Wellington_Saints) for the [2012 New Zealand NBL season](/source/2012_New_Zealand_NBL_season).[10]

In February 2013, Iti signed with the [Ipswich Force](/source/Ipswich_Force) for the [2013 Queensland Basketball League season](/source/2013_Queensland_Basketball_League_season).[11][12] He returned to the Force for the [2014 season](/source/2014_Queensland_Basketball_League_season).[13]

In March 2015, Iti signed with the Brisbane Spartans for the 2015 [SEABL](/source/South_East_Australian_Basketball_League) season.[14] In 17 games for the Spartans, he averaged 4.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.[15]
