# Martin Christensen

**Martin Christensen** (born 23 December 1987) is a Danish former professional [footballer](/source/Association_football). He played 28 games and scored three goals for various Danish national youth teams from 2005 to 2008.

## Career

Christensen started his senior career with [Herfølge Boldklub](/source/Herf%C3%B8lge_Boldklub). He signed for English club [Charlton Athletic](/source/Charlton_Athletic_F.C.) from in June 2007 for an initial £250,000, which could potentially rise to £350,000.[1] He made his first Charlton appearance in a [friendly match](/source/Friendly_match) against [Welling United](/source/Welling_United_F.C.). He joined Dutch team [Heracles Almelo](/source/Heracles_Almelo) on a [loan deal](/source/Loan_(association_football)) in January 2008.[2] In January 2009, he was loaned out to Danish club [Lyngby BK](/source/Lyngby_Boldklub) until the end of the season. On 20 August 2009, he joined Italian [Prima Divisione](/source/Lega_Pro_Prima_Divisione) club [Rimini Calcio](/source/Rimini_Calcio) on a permanent deal, without making a single first team appearance for Charlton.[3] He signed a 1+1 contract.[4] In February 2010, Christensen signed a three-year contract with [Haugesund FK](/source/Haugesund_FK) in the [Norwegian Premier League](/source/Norwegian_Premier_League).[5]

He had a brief spell at [SønderjyskE](/source/S%C3%B8nderjyskE_Fodbold) in spring 2011, but moved to [HB Køge](/source/HB_K%C3%B8ge) in April 2011.[6]

Christensen returned to [HB Køge](/source/HB_K%C3%B8ge) in the summer 2018.[7] At the end of the season, he retired and continued at Køge as a youth coach.[8]
