His older brother [Ritchie Bayly](/source/Ritchie_Bayly) and nephew [Robert Bayly](/source/Robert_Bayly) were also footballers.
==Club career==
Born in [Dublin](/source/Dublin), Bayly began his professional career as a youth player with local side Little Bray and English team [Wolverhampton Wanderers](/source/Wolverhampton_Wanderers_F.C.). Bayly made his senior debut on 21 April 1984 in a 3–0 loss to [Ipswich Town](/source/Ipswich_Town_F.C.) in the [First Division](/source/Football_League_First_Division), the first of seven consecutive appearances. Bayly was then briefly on the books at [Coventry City](/source/Coventry_City_F.C.) before returning to his native Ireland to join [Sligo Rovers](/source/Sligo_Rovers_F.C.). Bayly then guested for [Shamrock Rovers](/source/Shamrock_Rovers_F.C.) in a tournament in [South Korea](/source/South_Korea) in June 1987, before moving to [Derry City](/source/Derry_City_F.C.) in 1988.
