**Marta Randall** (born 1948 in [Mexico City](/source/Mexico_City)) is an American [science fiction](/source/Science_fiction) writer.

In addition to writing numerous science fiction novels and short fiction, Marta Randall has edited the *[New Dimensions](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=New_Dimensions_(science_fiction)&action=edit&redlink=1)* science fiction anthology series, and *[The Nebula Awards #19](/source/The_Nebula_Awards_19)*.

She has taught science fiction writing at the [Clarion East](/source/Clarion_Workshop) and [Clarion West](/source/Clarion_West_Writers_Workshop) writing workshops, [UC Berkeley extension](/source/University_of_California_at_Berkeley), [Portland State University](/source/Portland_State_University), and at private workshops. From 1981 through 1984, she served first as Vice-President and later the first female President of the [Science Fiction Writers of America](/source/Science_Fiction_and_Fantasy_Writers_of_America).

Randall has published under the pseudonym **Martha Conley** as well as her real name.[1]
