# Marsha Cheeks

**Marsha G. Cheeks** (born March 7, 1956) is a Detroit-born politician from the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Michigan](/source/Michigan). She is a [Democrat](/source/Democrat_(United_States)) and member of the [Michigan House of Representatives](/source/Michigan_House_of_Representatives). She represents the [6th State House District](/source/Michigan's_6th_House_of_Representatives_district), which includes most of Downtown [Detroit](/source/Detroit).[1] She is also the aunt of former Detroit mayor [Kwame Kilpatrick](/source/Kwame_Kilpatrick) and sister of [United States Representative](/source/United_States_Representative) [Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick](/source/Carolyn_Cheeks_Kilpatrick).[2]
