# Marocas

**Mário Jaime Raimundo Duarte** (born 17 February 1988), known as **Marocas**, is a Portuguese [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)) for [Imortal D.C.](/source/Imortal_D.C.)

He played 23 [second-tier](/source/Liga_Portugal_2) games and scored 4 goals for [Santa Clara](/source/C.D._Santa_Clara) and [Oliveirense](/source/U.D._Oliveirense), but spent the vast majority of his career in the lower leagues

## Club career

Born in [Albufeira](/source/Albufeira), Marocas passed through several amateur clubs in his native [Algarve](/source/Algarve) in his early career. In the [2013–14 Campeonato Nacional de Seniores](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_Campeonato_Nacional_de_Seniores) he scored 23 goals for [Sport Benfica e Castelo Branco](/source/Sport_Benfica_e_Castelo_Branco), and added three more in other competitions.[1] Halfway through the season, he and teammate [Alvarinho](/source/Alvaro_Ricardo_Faustino_Gomes) trained with [Zawisza Bydgoszcz](/source/Zawisza_Bydgoszcz) of Poland, but only the latter made the move permanent.[2]

Marocas then moved to [Segunda Liga](/source/Segunda_Liga) club [C.D. Santa Clara](/source/C.D._Santa_Clara), but was loaned back to Castelo Branco in September 2014 for the season.[1] He made his one professional appearance for the [Azorean](/source/Azores) team on 8 August 2015 in a 1–0 loss at [Vitória S.C. B](/source/Vit%C3%B3ria_S.C._B), playing the final 17 minutes in place of [Paulo Clemente](/source/Paulo_Clemente).[3] Twenty days later, he terminated his contract by mutual consent with a year remaining.[4]

After a season with [U.D. Oliveirense](/source/U.D._Oliveirense), who were relegated from the second division, Marocas signed with [U.D. Vilafranquense](/source/U.D._Vilafranquense) in the third tier in 2016. On 20 November that year, he scored the only goal of a home win against [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga) club [F.C. Paços de Ferreira](/source/F.C._Pa%C3%A7os_de_Ferreira) in the fourth round of the [Taça de Portugal](/source/Ta%C3%A7a_de_Portugal).[5]

On 7 June 2018, Marocas returned to his native region, signing a two-year deal with former club [Louletano D.C.](/source/Louletano_D.C.) also in the third tier.[6] A year later, he moved on to nearby [C.F. Os Armacenenses](/source/C.F._Os_Armacenenses) in the same league.[7] After a spell at [C.F. Esperança de Lagos](/source/C.F._Esperan%C3%A7a_de_Lagos), he returned to his hometown club [Imortal D.C.](/source/Imortal_D.C.) in July 2021, with the Campeonato de Portugal now the fourth tier.[8]
