**Marlyn Glen** (born 30 September 1951) is a [Scottish Labour Party](/source/Scottish_Labour_Party) politician. She was a [Member of the Scottish Parliament](/source/Member_of_the_Scottish_Parliament) (MSP) for the [North East Scotland](/source/North_East_Scotland_(Scottish_Parliament_electoral_region)) region from 2003 to 2011.[1][2]

Glen was born in [Dundee](/source/Dundee) and educated at [Kirkton High School](/source/Baldragon_Academy). She attended the [University of St Andrews](/source/University_of_St_Andrews) and the [University of Dundee](/source/University_of_Dundee), and has also completed several [Open University](/source/Open_University) degree courses. Prior to her election to [Holyrood](/source/Scottish_Parliament), she worked as a teacher in [Liverpool](/source/Liverpool), [Ayr](/source/Ayr), [Irvine](/source/Irvine%2C_North_Ayrshire) and Dundee and is a member of the [Educational Institute of Scotland](/source/Educational_Institute_of_Scotland) trade union. She was also a [Dundee District Council](/source/Politics_of_Dundee) councillor. Her husband, Neil Glen, was also a councillor and died in 2004. She was also an Honorary Vice President of [English-Speaking Union Scotland](/source/English-Speaking_Union_Scotland).

Glen is on the left of the Scottish Labour Party and remains a supporter of the [Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament](/source/Scottish_Campaign_for_Nuclear_Disarmament). She is also a member of [Campaign for Socialism](/source/Campaign_for_Socialism) that backed [John McDonnell](/source/John_McDonnell)'s then [Jeremy Corbyn](/source/Jeremy_Corbyn)'s bids for the leadership of the [UK Labour Party](/source/Labour_Party_(UK)).
