The house is built of [gritstone](/source/gritstone) and [limestone](/source/limestone), with [moulded](/source/molding_(architecture)) floor and [eaves](/source/eaves) bands, and a stone slate roof. It has a two-storey three-[bay](/source/bay_(architecture)) hall range, and three-storey cross-wings with [coped](/source/coping_(architecture)) [gable](/source/gable)s and shaped kneelers. In the centre is a doorway in an [architrave](/source/architrave), flanked by [mullion](/source/mullion)ed windows, and on the upper floor are [sash window](/source/sash_window)s. The barn and the outbuildings are built of [sandstone](/source/sandstone), [limestone](/source/limestone) and cobble, and have [pantile](/source/pantile) roofs, that of the barn with [eaves](/source/eaves) courses of stone slate. The barn has a [timber framed](/source/timber_framed) core, five [bays](/source/bay_(architecture)) and side [aisle](/source/aisle)s. On the front are [quoins](/source/quoin_(architecture)), a large doorway, and blocked slit vents. The chapel range projects at right angles on the left, and contains doorways and paired pointed windows.<ref name="pevsner" /><ref name="nhleoutbuildings" />
