== Early life ==

After graduating high school, Pontius moved to [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles) to study [cinematography](/source/cinematography). Besides being the band's drummer, Pontius also directed and edited all of their music videos.<ref name=":1" /> Pontius left the band in December 2009 and subsequently formed [Foster the People](/source/Foster_the_People). In 2017 and 2018, Pontius worked with [Gabe Simon](/source/Kopecky_(band)) under the name Mr Gabriel.
