McNeill played major junior hockey with the [Prince Albert Raiders](/source/Prince_Albert_Raiders) of the [WHL](/source/Western_Hockey_League). He has two older siblings, Megan and David, and his parents, Bernie and Pamela, reside in Edmonton.

==Playing career==
