# Mark McConkey

**Mark E. McConkey** is an American politician.[2][3] He serves as a [Republican member](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)) for the [Carroll](/source/Carroll_County,_New_Hampshire) 8th district of the [New Hampshire House of Representatives](/source/New_Hampshire_House_of_Representatives).[4][5] He was elected to the [New Hampshire Senate](/source/New_Hampshire_Senate) in [2024](/source/2024_New_Hampshire_Senate_election).[6]

McConkey owns McConkey Construction, a construction business specializing in septic systems.[7][8] He also owns M&V Convenience Store, a gas station and shop in [Ossipee](/source/Ossipee), New Hampshire.[9]

## Political career

In 2025, Governor [Kelly Ayotte](/source/Kelly_Ayotte) appointed McConkey to the Commission on Government Efficiency or "COGE", a commission tasked with cutting spending by the New Hampshire government.[7] COGE is modeled on the [Department of Government Efficiency](/source/Department_of_Government_Efficiency), which does similar work at the federal level.[10]
