**Mark Lajal** (born 12 May 2003) is an Estonian [tennis](/source/Tennis) player. He has a career high [ATP](/source/Association_of_Tennis_Professionals) singles ranking of world No. 145, achieved on 22 September 2025. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of No. 703, achieved on 25 November 2024. He is currently the No. 1 Estonian player.[3] He has won two [ATP Challenger](/source/ATP_Challenger_Tour) and three [ITF](/source/International_Tennis_Federation) singles titles.[4]

Lajal represents [Estonia](/source/Estonia_Davis_Cup_team) at the [Davis Cup](/source/Davis_Cup), where he has a W/L record of 4–4.[5]

## Career

### 2021: Juniors

On the junior tour, he had a career high ITF combined ranking of No. 13, achieved on 30 August 2021.

### 2023: Maiden Challenger title, ATP debut and first win, top 200

He won his first [Challenger](/source/ATP_Challenger_Tour) title in [Little Rock](/source/2023_Little_Rock_Challenger), Arkansas. He became the first Estonian to win a Challenger title before his 21st birthday and Estonia’s second ever Challenger champion.[6][7][8]

Ranked No. 229 on his ATP debut, he received a wildcard for the main draw of the [2023 European Open](/source/2023_European_Open) and defeated [Jaume Munar](/source/Jaume_Munar) for his first ATP win.[9] He then lost to fourth seed and eventual finalist [Arthur Fils](/source/Arthur_Fils) in the second round.

As a [lucky loser](/source/Lucky_loser) at the [Bergamo Challenger](/source/2023_Trofeo_Faip%E2%80%93Perrel_%E2%80%93_Singles), Lajal beat [Jelle Sels](/source/Jelle_Sels), [Ugo Blanchet](/source/Ugo_Blanchet) and the opponent he lost to in qualifying, [Pierre-Hugues Herbert](/source/Pierre-Hugues_Herbert) to reach the semifinals, where he lost to [David Goffin](/source/David_Goffin) in 3 sets. As a result, he made his debut in the top 200.

### 2024: Grand Slam debut

In July, ranked No. 262, Lajal made his Grand Slam debut at [Wimbledon](/source/2024_Wimbledon_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_singles) after a successful qualifying campaign in which he ousted 25th qualifying seed [Francesco Passaro](/source/Francesco_Passaro), [Henrique Rocha](/source/Henrique_Rocha) and fourth seed [James Duckworth](/source/James_Duckworth_(tennis)). He became the first Estonian man to reach a Grand Slam main draw since [Jürgen Zopp](/source/J%C3%BCrgen_Zopp) at the [2018 Roland Garros](/source/2018_French_Open_%E2%80%93_Men's_singles).[10][11] He lost in straight sets to eventual champion [Carlos Alcaraz](/source/Carlos_Alcaraz) on his debut.[12][13]

In August, Lajal reached his second career [Challenger](/source/ATP_Challenger_Tour) final in [Zhangjiagang](/source/2024_International_Challenger_Zhangjiagang), losing to [Yasutaka Uchiyama](/source/Yasutaka_Uchiyama) in the final.[14][15]

### 2025: First ATP quarterfinal, top 150 debut

In June, Lajal entered the main draw at the [2025 Libéma Open](/source/2025_Lib%C3%A9ma_Open) as a qualifier. He reached the second round by defeating world No. 64 [Laslo Djere](/source/Laslo_Djere), for his biggest win, the first on grass and only his second ATP win.[16] He reached his first [ATP Tour](/source/ATP_Tour) quarterfinal by getting a walkover from fifth seed [Hubert Hurkacz](/source/Hubert_Hurkacz).[17] He lost to [Zizou Bergs](/source/Zizou_Bergs) in the quarterfinals.[18]

In July, Lajal won his second [Challenger](/source/ATP_Challenger_Tour) at the [Cranbrook Tennis Classic](/source/2025_Cranbrook_Tennis_Classic_%E2%80%93_Singles), defeating [Andres Martin](/source/Andres_Martin_(tennis)) in the final. As a result, he entered the top 150 on 28 July 2025.[19]
