Hutton retired to [Lower Mitcham](/source/Lower_Mitcham%2C_South_Australia). He and his wife, Tracey, have two sons, Jack and Harry Hutton.<ref name=heraldsun/>

Hutton dabbled in coaching youth baseball players and supported a funding campaign to save the Sturt Baseball Club.
