# Mark Goudie

**Mark Goudie** (born 1991 [1]) is a Scottish [electrical engineer](/source/Electrical_engineering) based in [Glasgow](/source/Glasgow). He worked as an engineer for [Atkins](/source/Atkins_(company)) and currently works as the Distribution System Operation Manager[2] for SP Energy Networks, part of [ScottishPower](/source/Scottish_Power). He was elected as one of the youngest ever Fellows of the [Institution of Engineering and Technology](/source/Institution_of_Engineering_and_Technology).[3]

## Early life and education

Mark grew up in [East Kilbride](/source/East_Kilbride)[4] and studied an MEng in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering at the [University of Strathclyde](/source/University_of_Strathclyde).[5] During his time at university he was a sponsored student with [Atkins](/source/Atkins_(company)) through the [IET Power Academy](/source/IET_Power_Academy) programme and completed a number of summer placements across the UK.[6]

## Career

Mark joined the Atkins graduate scheme in 2015.[7] In 2015, Mark was also recognised for designing the Wind Energy Reservoir Storage (WERS) system that would seek to repurpose aging oil & gas infrastructure.[8] In 2020, he became a [Chartered Engineer](/source/Chartered_Engineer_(UK)) and Fellow with the Institution of Engineering and Technology.[5] He subsequently became the Distribution System Operation Manager for SP Energy Networks.[9]
