## Career

Farr first played [Gaelic football](/source/Gaelic_football) at juvenile and underage levels with the [Dohenys](/source/Dohenys_GAA) club in [Dunmanway](/source/Dunmanway). He was just 16-years-old when he made his adult debut for the club's third team in 1984. Farr later won back-to-back [West Cork JAFC](/source/West_Cork_Junior_A_Football_Championship), before claiming a [Cork JAFC](/source/Cork_Junior_A_Football_Championship) medal after a defeat of [Carrigtwohill](/source/Carrigtwohill_GAA) in 1993. His performances for the club resulted in a call-up to the [Carbery](/source/Carbery_GAA) divisional team. Farr later added a [Cork IFC](/source/Cork_Intermediate_A_Football_Championship) medal to his collection in 1995.[1]

At inter-county level, Farr first appeared for [Cork](/source/Cork_GAA) as a member of the minor team that lost the [1986 All-Ireland minor final](/source/1986_All-Ireland_Minor_Football_Championship#All-Ireland_final) to [Galway](/source/Galway_GAA).[2] He later won a [Munster U21FC](/source/Munster_Under-21_Football_Championship) as a member of the extended panel in 1989. By that stage, Farr had already joined the junior team and won the first of four [Munster JFC](/source/Munster_Junior_Football_Championship) medals in 1988. He claimed back-to-back [All-Ireland JFC](/source/All-Ireland_Junior_Football_Championship) medals as a substitute in 1989 and on the field of play in 1990.[3]

After impressing for the junior team, Farr joined the [Cork senior football team](/source/Cork_senior_football_team) in 1993.[4] He won the first of three [Munster SFC](/source/Munster_Senior_Football_Championship) medals that season and was an unused substitute when Cork were beaten by [Derry](/source/Derry_GAA) in the [1993 All-Ireland final](/source/1993_All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship_final).[5][6][7] Farr was also selected for [Munster](/source/Munster_GAA)'s [Railway Cup](/source/Railway_Cup) team during this period.[8] He made his last appearance for Cork as an unused substitute in a defeat by [Clare](/source/Clare_GAA) in 1997.
