# Mark Danks

**Mark James Danks** (born 8 February 1984) is an English [footballer](/source/Association_football) currently with Telford Town

He had previous professional experience with [Bradford City](/source/Bradford_City_A.F.C.) in the [2002–03](/source/2002%E2%80%9303_in_English_football) season and won the [FA Trophy](/source/FA_Trophy) with [Hednesford Town](/source/Hednesford_Town_F.C.) in the [2003–04](/source/2003%E2%80%9304_in_English_football) season and also won the [Conference League Cup](/source/Conference_League_Cup) with [A.F.C. Telford United](/source/A.F.C._Telford_United) in the [2008–09](/source/English_football) season.

## Career

### Football League

Danks began his career at [Wolverhampton Wanderers](/source/Wolverhampton_Wanderers_F.C.), where he played for England U15 and U16, before joining [Bradford City](/source/Bradford_City_A.F.C.) for a season in August 2002. Although restricted to four substitute appearances he scored his first goal in senior football in an [FA Cup](/source/FA_Cup) match against [West Bromwich Albion](/source/West_Bromwich_Albion_F.C.), which Bradford lost 3–1.[2]

### Non-League career

He went to [Halesowen Town](/source/Halesowen_Town_F.C.) of the [Southern League Premier Division](/source/Southern_League_Premier_Division) on a month loan in March 2003 where he scored on his debut at [Ilkeston Town](/source/Ilkeston_Town_F.C._(1945)).[3] He was released by Bradford City at the end of the [2002–03](/source/2002%E2%80%9303_in_English_football) season.[4]

Danks joined [Hednesford Town](/source/Hednesford_Town_F.C.) in July 2003 and went on to win the [FA Trophy](/source/FA_Trophy) with them in 2004.[5] He joined [Conference National](/source/Conference_National) club [Forest Green Rovers](/source/Forest_Green_Rovers_F.C.) in August 2004,[6] where he did not have the best of times, going out on loan for a month to [Stafford Rangers](/source/Stafford_Rangers_F.C.) in September 2004,[7] on loan to [Kettering Town](/source/Kettering_Town_F.C.) in the [Conference North](/source/Conference_North) in March 2005,[8] on loan for two months to [Bromsgrove Rovers](/source/Bromsgrove_Rovers_F.C.) in September 2005 and on loan for a month to [Cirencester Town](/source/Cirencester_Town_F.C.) in December 2005.[9][10]

He joined Worcester City on a non-contract basis and then signed a contract until the end of the [2007–08](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_in_English_football) season in March 2006.[11]

In May 2008, Danks joined [Halesowen Town](/source/Halesowen_Town_F.C.).[12]

In February 2009, Danks joined Conference North side [Telford United](/source/A.F.C._Telford_United) on a contract until the end of the season.[13] He scored a penalty in the [Conference League Cup](/source/Conference_League_Cup) final against his former club, Forest Green, as Telford won the final 3–0 on penalties.[14][15]

In June 2010 Danks re-signed for Conference North club [Worcester City](/source/Worcester_City_F.C.) from [Northwich Victoria](/source/Northwich_Victoria_F.C.).[16]

On 18 June 2011 Danks rejoined Hednesford Town for the 2011–12 season.[17] In January 2012 he joined [Stourbridge](/source/Stourbridge_F.C.) on a non-contract basis,[18][19] then [Airbus UK Broughton](/source/Airbus_UK_Broughton_F.C.) later that month.[20]

During the summer of 2012 he moved to [Redditch United](/source/Redditch_United_F.C.),[21] being released in October,[22] followed by an even shorter spell with [Evesham United](/source/Evesham_United_F.C.) until November 2012.[23] Also in November 2012 he joined [Sutton Coldfield Town](/source/Sutton_Coldfield_Town_F.C.), scoring four times on his debut for Sutton Coldfield in a Doodson Sports Cup game against [Loughborough Dynamo](/source/Loughborough_Dynamo_F.C.), and then scored the winning goal on his league debut on 1 December 2012 against [Carlton Town](/source/Carlton_Town_F.C.).[24][25]

In March 2014, he joined [Halesowen Town](/source/Halesowen_Town_F.C.),[26] extending the deal in May 2014 to be committed for the 2014–15 campaign.[27]

However, following a preseason game between [Tamworth](/source/Tamworth_F.C.) and [Rushall Olympic](/source/Rushall_Olympic_F.C.) on 2 August 2014, he signed for the latter.[28] Following appearances for [AFC Bridgnorth](/source/A.F.C._Bridgnorth),[29] [Lye Town](/source/Lye_Town_F.C.),[30] and [Hednesford Town](/source/Hednesford_Town_F.C.) for the third time,[31][32][33] all during the autumn of 2014, and finally joined [Chasetown](/source/Chasetown_F.C.) in December 2014.[34] In February 2015, he switched back to [Sutton Coldfield Town](/source/Sutton_Coldfield_Town_F.C.) for the remainder of the season,[35] although he has a loan spell at [Boldmere St. Michaels](/source/Boldmere_St._Michaels_F.C.) in March 2015.[36] In May 2015, he agreed terms with The Royals to stay on for another season.[37]

Only weeks into the 2015–16 season he moved to [Tividale](/source/Tividale_F.C.) of the [Northern Premier League Division One South](/source/Northern_Premier_League_Division_One_South).[38] He left in February 2016 to join [Romulus](/source/Romulus_F.C.),[39] and in October 2016 he rejoined Lye Town.[40] He returned to Worcester City once more in July 2017, after a pre-season stint with [Midland League](/source/Midland_Football_League_(2014)) Premier Division rivals Boldmere St. Michaels.[41] In February 2018, he joined [Worcester Raiders](/source/Worcester_Raiders_F.C.) of the [West Midlands (Regional) League](/source/West_Midlands_(Regional)_League) Division One on dual registration terms, in order to gain match fitness.[42] They reside in the 11th tier of the English football pyramid.

In June 2018, City manager John Snape revealed that Danks had turned down an offer to commit himself to them for the upcoming season, and instead moved to [Black Country Rangers](/source/Black_Country_Rangers_F.C.) of [West Midlands (Regional) League](/source/West_Midlands_(Regional)_League) Premier Division.[43] He eventually opted out of the deal to take the role as a player-assistant manager at City's league rivals [Stourport Swifts](/source/Stourport_Swifts_F.C.).[44]

In February 2024 Danks joined West Midlands Regional League side Telford Town.
