# Mark Cisneros

**Mark Cisneros** (born 1970) is an American politician and businessman serving as a member of the [Iowa House of Representatives](/source/Iowa_House_of_Representatives) from the [96th](/source/Iowa_House_of_Representatives,_District_96) district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 11, 2021.

## Early life

Born in 1970 to immigrants from [Mexico](/source/Mexico), Cisneros was raised in [Los Angeles County, California](/source/Los_Angeles_County,_California).[1][2]

## Career

He began his career with the [Los Angeles Park Ranger Division](/source/Los_Angeles_Park_Ranger_Division). Cisneros and his wife relocated from [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles) to [Muscatine, Iowa](/source/Muscatine,_Iowa) in 2008. He has since owned and operated two retail stores with his wife and worked in the trucking industry. He was elected to the [Iowa House of Representatives](/source/Iowa_House_of_Representatives) in November 2020 and assumed office on January 11, 2021. He is the vice chair of the House Commerce Committee.[3] When Cisneros assumed office, he became the first member of the Iowa House of Hispanic heritage.[1]
