He was awarded the [Legion of Honour](/source/Legion_of_Honour) by the French government.[1] ## Biography Tozzi studied at the [Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna](/source/Accademia_di_Belle_Arti_di_Bologna) in Italy where he met [Giorgio Morandi](/source/Giorgio_Morandi) and [Osvaldo Licini](/source/Osvaldo_Licini). He graduated in 1916. After the First World War, he moved to Paris, France and founded the *Groupe des Sept* (also known as *Les Italiens de Paris*) with [Massimo Campigli](/source/Massimo_Campigli), [Giorgio de Chirico](/source/Giorgio_de_Chirico), [Filippo De Pisis](/source/Filippo_De_Pisis), [Renato Paresce](/source/Ren%C3%A9_Paresce), [Alberto Savinio](/source/Alberto_Savinio) and [Gino Severini](/source/Gino_Severini). Tozzi returned to Rome in 1936. His work was exhibited at the [Venice Biennale](/source/Venice_Biennale) in 1938, 1942, 1948, 1952 and 1954. He returned to France in 1971, dying there in 1979.
