She made her debut at the [Théâtre du Palais-Royal](/source/Th%C3%A9%C3%A2tre_du_Palais-Royal), where she was noticed by [Jacques Offenbach](/source/Jacques_Offenbach), who took her into his company. At the [Bouffes-Parisiens](/source/Bouffes-Parisiens) she created the roles of Minerve in ''[Orphée aux enfers](/source/Orph%C3%A9e_aux_enfers)'' (1858), Lahire and Clé-de-Sol in ''[Geneviève de Brabant](/source/Genevi%C3%A8ve_de_Brabant)'' (1859) and Calisto in ''[Daphnis et Chloé](/source/Daphnis_et_Chlo%C3%A9_(Offenbach))'' (1860).

After winning prizes at the [Paris Conservatoire](/source/Conservatoire_de_Paris), she made her debut at the [Opéra-Comique](/source/Op%C3%A9ra-Comique) on 30 September 1861 in ''Les mousquetaires de la reine''.<ref name="Soubies"/> Cico then created the title role in ''[Lalla-Roukh](/source/Lalla-Roukh)'' by [Félicien David](/source/F%C3%A9licien_David) (1862), ''Le voyage en Chine'' (1865) by [François Bazin](/source/Fran%C3%A7ois_Bazin_(composer)), ''[Robinson Crusoé](/source/Robinson_Cruso%C3%A9)'' (1867), ''La pénitent'' (1868) and ''[Vert-Vert](/source/Vert-Vert)'' (1869). In 1874 Cico was engaged at the [Théâtre de la Gaîté](/source/Th%C3%A9%C3%A2tre_de_la_Ga%C3%AEt%C3%A9_(rue_Papin)) in preparation for a revival of ''Orphée aux enfers''.<ref name="Soubies"/>

At the Opéra-Comique she also sang in ''[Zampa](/source/Zampa)'' (Camille) in 1863 and ''[Le domino noir](/source/Le_domino_noir)'' in 1864. Cico took part in the new production of ''[Le Pré aux clercs](/source/Le_Pr%C3%A9_aux_clercs)'' in 1865 (Isabelle), and in the 1,000th performance of the piece on 7 December 1871.<ref name="Wolff">Wolff, Stéphane. She made her debut in ''[Fra Diavolo](/source/Fra_Diavolo_(opera))'' (Pamela) on 10 March 1870, and on 24 February 1872 took part as Suzanne in the Opéra-Comique premiere of ''[The Marriage of Figaro](/source/The_Marriage_of_Figaro)''.<ref name="Wolff"/>

Her sister Pauline was also an actress who performed at the [Théâtre du Vaudeville](/source/Th%C3%A9%C3%A2tre_du_Vaudeville), Palais-Royal, and Ambigu theatres.
