'''Mariasundet''' is a sound in [Nathorst Land](/source/Nathorst_Land) at the mouth of [Van Mijenfjorden](/source/Van_Mijenfjorden) at [Spitsbergen](/source/Spitsbergen), [Svalbard](/source/Svalbard); between [Mariaholmen](/source/Mariaholmen) and [Måseneset](/source/M%C3%A5seneset). While [Akselsundet](/source/Akselsundet) is regarded as the main entrance into Van Mijenfjorden, Mariasundet is also navigable. It contains the three sherries [Svarten](/source/Svarten), [Veslesvarten](/source/Veslesvarten) and [Erta](/source/Erta).<ref>{{cite web |url=http://placenames.npolar.no/stadnamn/Mariasundet |title=Mariasundet (Svalbard) |publisher=[Norwegian Polar Institute](/source/Norwegian_Polar_Institute) |accessdate=17 July 2013}}</ref><ref>{{cite book |title=Arctic Pilot: Sailing directions Svalbard–Jan Mayen |year=1988 | volume =7 |publisher=The Norwegian Hydrographic Service and The Norwegian Polar Institute |location=Stavanger |language= |isbn=82-90653-06-9 |pages=211, 213 }}</ref>
