***Mariandl*** is a 1961 Austrian [drama film](/source/Drama_film) directed by [Werner Jacobs](/source/Werner_Jacobs) and starring [Cornelia Froboess](/source/Cornelia_Froboess), [Rudolf Prack](/source/Rudolf_Prack) and [Waltraut Haas](/source/Waltraut_Haas).[1] It was followed by a sequel *[Mariandl's Homecoming](/source/Mariandl's_Homecoming)* in 1962. A girl living in a hotel aspires to a musical [scholarship](/source/Scholarship).

The film's sets were designed by the [art directors](/source/Art_director) [Fritz Jüptner-Jonstorff](/source/Fritz_J%C3%BCptner-Jonstorff) and [Alexander Sawczynski](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Alexander_Sawczynski&action=edit&redlink=1).

## Song: "Mariandl"

Part of the film soundtrack is the single "Mariandl" which was composed by [Hans Lang](/source/Hans_Lang_(Austrian_composer)). The song had been translated into an English version which was sung by [Petula Clark](/source/Petula_Clark) and [Jimmy Young](/source/Jimmy_Young_(disc_jockey)).[2]
