**Maria Clara Pacheco** (born 16 July 2003) is a Brazilian taekwondo practitioner. She was a gold medalist at the [2025 World Taekwondo Championships](/source/2025_World_Taekwondo_Championships_%E2%80%93_Women's_featherweight).

## Early life

She was born in [São Vicente](/source/S%C3%A3o_Vicente%2C_S%C3%A3o_Paulo),[2] in [São Paulo](/source/S%C3%A3o_Paulo), but moved to [São Caetano do Sul](/source/S%C3%A3o_Caetano_do_Sul) in 2021.[3]

## Career

She won a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in [Sharm-el-Sheikh](/source/Sharm-el-Sheikh) in 2017.[3][4]

2023 was her first season competing in senior taekwondo. She made her Grand Priz series debut that year in [Paris](/source/Paris) where she reached the quarterfinals.[5]

She won the bronze medal in the [Women's featherweight](/source/2023_World_Taekwondo_Championships_%E2%80%93_Women's_featherweight) at the [2023 World Taekwondo Championships](/source/2023_World_Taekwondo_Championships) in [Baku](/source/Baku), losing to eventual winner [Luana Márton](/source/Luana_M%C3%A1rton) in the semi-final.[6][7] In doing so, she became only Brazilian to have won medals in Taekwondo World Championships in both the senior and cadet levels.[3]

In October 2023, she was a silver medalist at the [2023 Pan American Games](/source/Taekwondo_at_the_2023_Pan_American_Games_%E2%80%93_Women's_57_kg).[8] She also won a bronze in the [team event](/source/Taekwondo_at_the_2023_Pan_American_Games_%E2%80%93_Women's_Kyorugi_team) at the games.[9]

In April 2024, competing at the regional Olympic qualifying event in [Dominican Republic](/source/Dominican_Republic), she won a place at the [2024 Olympic Games](/source/2024_Olympic_Games) in [Paris](/source/Paris).[10]

In June 2025, Pacheco won the Gold medal at the 2025 [Charlotte Taekwondo Grand Prix](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Charlotte_Taekwondo_Grand_Prix&action=edit&redlink=1) and claimed her first podium finish at the event. She competed in the women’s 57kg category and defeated [Luo Zongshi](/source/Luo_Zongshi) of [China](/source/China) in the final with a score of 2–0, without conceding a single point (17–0 and 12–0).[11]

Pacheco won the gold medal in the -57kg category at the [2025 World University Games](/source/Taekwondo_at_the_2025_Summer_World_University_Games) in Germany, recording a 2-0 victory over [Chaima Toumi](/source/Chaima_Toumi) of Tunisia in the final.[12] In October, she won the gold medal at the [2025 World Taekwondo Championships](/source/2025_World_Taekwondo_Championships) in China, where she defeated reigning Olympic champion [Kim Yu-jin](/source/Kim_Yu-jin_(taekwondo%2C_born_2000)) of Korea 2-0 in the final.[13]

In 2025 Pacheco won both the trophies for best Brazilian taekwondo athlete of the year and for Brazilian female athlete of the year at that year's edition of the *[Prêmio Brasil Olímpico](/source/Pr%C3%AAmio_Brasil_Ol%C3%ADmpico)* ( *Brazil Olympic Prize*).[14]
