# Margo Jonker

**Margo F. Jonker** is an American [softball](/source/Softball) coach and the current head coach of the [Central Michigan Chippewas](/source/Central_Michigan_Chippewas). She was a 2003 inductee in the [National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame](/source/National_Fastpitch_Coaches_Association_Hall_of_Fame).

## Career

During her 31 years as head coach, the Chippewas have gone to the [NCAA](/source/NCAA) tournament 13 times and have 11 [Mid-American Conference](/source/Mid-American_Conference) (MAC) titles. Jonker was formerly an assistant softball coach at [Grand Valley State University](/source/Grand_Valley_State_University) and head coach at [West Ottawa High School](/source/West_Ottawa_High_School). CMU's Margo Jonker stadium is named after her.

At the [2000 Olympics](/source/Softball_at_the_2000_Summer_Olympics) she served as an assistant coach on the [United States Olympic softball team](/source/United_States_women's_national_softball_team) that captured the gold medal in [Sydney, Australia](/source/Sydney,_Australia).[2]

She is a [Holland, Michigan](/source/Holland,_Michigan) native and attended and played softball for the [Grand Valley State Lakers](/source/Grand_Valley_State_Lakers).[3]
