***Maresi*** is a 1948 Austrian [period](/source/Period_film) [drama film](/source/Drama_film) directed by [Hans Thimig](/source/Hans_Thimig) and starring [Attila Hörbiger](/source/Attila_H%C3%B6rbiger), [Maria Schell](/source/Maria_Schell) and [Siegfried Breuer](/source/Siegfried_Breuer).[1] It was one of the box offices successes of 1948.[2] The film was based on the 1935 story of the same title by the Austrian writer [Alexander Lernet-Holenia](/source/Alexander_Lernet-Holenia) (1897 - 1976). The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Julius von Borsody](/source/Julius_von_Borsody).
