**Marcus Yarns** (born October 30, 2001) is an American professional [football](/source/American_football) [running back](/source/Running_back) for the [Houston Gamblers](/source/Houston_Gamblers_(UFL)) of the [United Football League](/source/United_Football_League_(2024)) (UFL). He played [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens](/source/Delaware_Fightin'_Blue_Hens_football).

## Early life

Yarns is from [Salisbury, Maryland](/source/Salisbury,_Maryland).[1][2] He attended [Parkside High School](/source/Parkside_High_School) in Salisbury where he played [football](/source/American_football), [basketball](/source/Basketball) and [lacrosse](/source/Lacrosse), being a two-year [captain](/source/Captain_(sports)) in both football and basketball.[3] In football, he played as a [running back](/source/Running_back) and [safety](/source/Safety_(gridiron_football_position)) and was a two-time all-conference performer.[3] He ran for over 1,500 yards and 12 [touchdowns](/source/Touchdown) as a [junior](/source/Junior_(education_year)) but then suffered a knee injury that caused him to miss much of his [senior](/source/Senior_(education)) season.[4] Although he had offers to play [college football](/source/College_football) for [NCAA Division I FBS](/source/NCAA_Division_I_Football_Bowl_Subdivision)-level teams, he committed to the [FCS](/source/NCAA_Division_I_Football_Championship_Subdivision)-level [Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens](/source/Delaware_Fightin'_Blue_Hens_football).[5]

## College career

As a [freshman](/source/Freshman) at Delaware in the spring 2021 season, Yarns played in one game.[6] However, he missed most of the season due to a broken leg.[5] He saw limited playing time as a [sophomore](/source/Sophomore) in the fall 2021 season, totaling 23 rushes for 80 yards in eight games.[6] The following year, he ran 73 times for 481 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 6.6 yards-per-carry which placed first on the team.[7] In 2023, he posted a team-leading 939 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, recording an average of 6.9 yards-per-carry which placed fourth in the FCS.[8] He was a third-team FCS [All-American](/source/College_Football_All-America_Team) selection and a second-team All-[Coastal Athletic Association](/source/Coastal_Athletic_Association) (CAA) pick that year.[3] Yarns returned for a final season in 2024.[8] He appeared in nine games and ran 133 times for 844 yards and six touchdowns, also catching 17 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns while being selected first-team All-CAA.[3] He concluded his collegiate career with over 3,000 total yards.[1]

## Professional career

### New Orleans Saints

Yarns was invited to the [2025 East–West Shrine Bowl](/source/2025_East%E2%80%93West_Shrine_Bowl), the [2025 Senior Bowl](/source/2025_Senior_Bowl), and to the 2025 [NFL Scouting Combine](/source/NFL_Scouting_Combine).[10] On April 27, Yarns went undrafted in the 2025 [NFL Draft](/source/2025_NFL_draft) and signed with the [New Orleans Saints](/source/New_Orleans_Saints) as an [undrafted free agent](/source/Undrafted_free_agent).[11] He was waived on August 26 as part of final roster cuts.[12]

### Houston Gamblers

On January 13, 2026, Yarns was selected by the [Houston Gamblers](/source/Houston_Gamblers_(UFL)) in the 2026 UFL Draft.[13]
