**Marco Antonio Faylona Alcaraz** (Tagalog pronunciation: [\[alkaˈɾas\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Tagalog); born July 12, 1983) is a Filipino actor, model, and former varsity basketball player at [San Sebastian College-Recoletos](/source/San_Sebastian_College-Recoletos). His first movie was *[Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita](/source/Aishite_Imasu_1941%3A_Mahal_Kita)* with [Dennis Trillo](/source/Dennis_Trillo). He wed on July 8, 2012, to the former [beauty queen](/source/Beauty_queen) and the winner of the [2005 Miss International](/source/Miss_International), [Precious Lara Quigaman](/source/Precious_Lara_Quigaman).

## Early life and education

Alcaraz is the eldest of six children in his family.[1] Growing up in [Cebu](/source/Cebu), he grew up wanting to be a basketball player. He studied at [San Sebastian College-Recoletos](/source/San_Sebastian_College-Recoletos), where he played for their varsity team, the [Stags](/source/San_Sebastian_Stags_basketball). However, in his rookie season, he suffered an [ACL injury](/source/ACL_injury).[2]

## Career

As he rehabbed from his injury for six months, Alcaraz tried modeling. He then auditioned for a role on [ABS-CBN's](/source/ABS-CBN) *[It Might Be You](/source/It_Might_Be_You_(TV_series)).* He got the role, in which he starred alongside [John Lloyd Cruz](/source/John_Lloyd_Cruz) and [Bea Alonzo](/source/Bea_Alonzo) in a love triangle. The role made him popular, and led to him getting roles in an episode of *[Wansapanataym](/source/Wansapanataym)* and as the lead in the film *Birhen ng Manaoag.*[1][2] In 2008, he played a merman in *[Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel](/source/Dyesebel_(TV_series)),* in which he had to take swimming lessons for.[3] He also had a role in *[Manay Po 2](/source/Manay_Po_2%3A_Overload),* in which he had comedic scenes and fight scenes.[4]

## Personal life

Alcaraz is married to former [beauty queen](/source/Beauty_queen) and the winner of the [2005 Miss International](/source/Miss_International), [Precious Lara Quigaman](/source/Precious_Lara_Quigaman).[5] They have three sons together and are currently based in Canada.[6][7]

Alcaraz graduated with a degree in Business Management, which he once used to open a cell phone repair shop in a Rizal mall.[4]
