In 2006, Heller signed with [Regionalliga Süd](/source/Regionalliga_S%C3%BCd_(1994%E2%80%932012)) club [Sportfreunde Siegen](/source/Sportfreunde_Siegen) for its [2006–07 campaign](/source/2006%E2%80%9307_Regionalliga), joining from the Alemannia Aachen reserves. He immediately earned a regular spot and drew attraction in a [DFB-Pokal](/source/DFB-Pokal) match against [Eintracht Frankfurt](/source/Eintracht_Frankfurt).
