**Marcel Girard Brache** (born 15 October 1987) is an [American](/source/American_people) retired [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player. Brache was born in [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles), California and was raised primarily in [South Africa](/source/South_Africa). He currently plays for the [San Diego Legion](/source/San_Diego_Legion) of [Major League Rugby](/source/Major_League_Rugby) (MLR), generally as a [centre](/source/Rugby_union_positions#12._Centre) but can also play [wing](/source/Rugby_union_positions#14._Centre).

## Rugby career

Brache represented [Western Province](/source/Western_Province_Rugby_Union) from 2011 to 2013 in the [Currie Cup](/source/Currie_Cup) and [Vodacom Cup](/source/Vodacom_Cup). Brache represented the [Stormers](/source/Stormers) in [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby) during the 2012 season where he made 1 substitute appearance,[1] but did not make the Stormers squad for the 2013 season.[2] Brache previously played for the [Ikey Tigers](/source/Ikey_Tigers) in the [Varsity Cup](/source/Varsity_Cup).[3]

Brache joined [Australian](/source/Australia) Super Rugby side the [Western Force](/source/Western_Force) in late 2013 on a two-year deal before the [2014 Super Rugby season](/source/2014_Super_Rugby_season).[4] Brache has played over 30 games for Western Force since his debut before scoring a try. Then, on 7 May 2015, he scored a first half hat-trick for the Western Force in their match against the [Sunwolves](/source/Sunwolves).

He signed for [Major League Rugby](/source/Major_League_Rugby) team [Austin Gilgronis](/source/Austin_Gilgronis) ahead of the 2022 season.[5]

## International
