==Career==

A [Republic of Ireland national under-17 football team](/source/Republic_of_Ireland_national_under-17_football_team) international after three seasons at [Liverpool](/source/Liverpool_F.C.) he came home to play three seasons in the [Irish League](/source/Northern_Ireland_Football_League) with [Bangor](/source/Bangor_F.C.) and [Glenavon](/source/Glenavon_F.C.)

He made his [League of Ireland](/source/League_of_Ireland) debut for [Shamrock Rovers](/source/Shamrock_Rovers_F.C.) at Finn Harps on 12 October 1996.

A week later he scored on his full debut against Bohs in a 3–2 victory in Tolka Park.

His first European game was for [Bangor](/source/Bangor_F.C.) against [APOEL](/source/APOEL) in the [1993-94 European Cup Winners' Cup](/source/1993-94_European_Cup_Winners'_Cup). His free kick led to Bangor's opener. In the second leg his corner led to [Mark Glendinning](/source/Mark_Glendinning)'s finish in Cyprus.

He was the only Glenavon player carded in the clash at [Werder Bremen](/source/Werder_Bremen) in the [1995-96 UEFA Cup](/source/1995-96_UEFA_Cup).

For Rovers his free kick led to [Derek Tracey](/source/Derek_Tracey)'s goal at [Altayspor](/source/Altayspor) in the [1998 UEFA Intertoto Cup](/source/1998_UEFA_Intertoto_Cup).
