# Marc Chouinard

**Marc Chouinard** (born May 6, 1977) is a Canadian former professional [ice hockey](/source/Ice_hockey) [centre](/source/Centre_(ice_hockey))-[winger](/source/Winger_(ice_hockey)) who played six seasons in the [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) (NHL).

## Biography

Chouinard was born in [Charlesbourg, Quebec City](/source/Charlesbourg,_Quebec_City). As a youth, he played in the 1990 and 1991 [Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments](/source/Quebec_International_Pee-Wee_Hockey_Tournament) with a [minor ice hockey](/source/Minor_ice_hockey) team from Charlesbourg.[1]

Chouinard started his career in the [Quebec Major Junior Hockey League](/source/Quebec_Major_Junior_Hockey_League) in 1993. After two successful seasons, he was drafted in the second round, 32nd overall by the [Winnipeg Jets](/source/Winnipeg_Jets_(1972%E2%80%931996)) during the [1995 NHL entry draft](/source/1995_NHL_entry_draft).[citation needed] He never played for the Jets, and on February 4, 1996 Chouinard and [Teemu Selanne](/source/Teemu_Selanne) were traded to the [Mighty Ducks of Anaheim](/source/Mighty_Ducks_of_Anaheim) in exchange for [Oleg Tverdovsky](/source/Oleg_Tverdovsky) and [Chad Kilger](/source/Chad_Kilger). After three years with the [Cincinnati Mighty Ducks](/source/Cincinnati_Mighty_Ducks), Chouinard was called up during the [2000–01 NHL season](/source/2000%E2%80%9301_NHL_season).[citation needed]

His uncle is [Guy Chouinard](/source/Guy_Chouinard), and he is a cousin of [Éric Chouinard](/source/%C3%89ric_Chouinard).[citation needed]
