Its highest point is [Veľký Javorník](/source/Ve%C4%BEk%C3%BD_Javorn%C3%ADk) at {{convert|1071|m|sp=us}}. The range stretches from the [White Carpathians](/source/White_Carpathians) in the south to the [Beskids](/source/Beskids) in the north. The range divides the [Bečva](/source/Be%C4%8Dva) and [Oder](/source/Oder) river systems from those of the [Turiec](/source/Turiec_(V%C3%A1h)) and [Váh](/source/V%C3%A1h) along the [European Watershed](/source/European_Watershed).  Part of the range falls within the Slovak [Kysuce Protected Landscape Area](/source/Kysuce_Protected_Landscape_Area).
