'''Manx Americans''' ({{langx|gv|Americanyn Manninagh}}) are [Americans](/source/Americans) of full or partial [Manx](/source/Manx_people) [ancestral origin](/source/ancestry) or Manx people who reside in the [United States of America](/source/United_States_of_America). Areas with significant numbers of people whose ancestry originates from the [Isle of Man](/source/Isle_of_Man) include Holt County, Missouri, and Cleveland, Ohio.

==Settlement in Missouri==
William Banks was the first Manx settler in [Holt County, Missouri](/source/Holt_County%2C_Missouri), 1841.<ref Name=Manx_Holt>{{cite web |url= https://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/famhist/genealgy/holt.htm |title= Manx Settlement in Holt County Missouri |author= Ralph, Lois |publisher= isle-of-man.com |access-date= April 19, 2025}}</ref> He was followed by members of the [Callow](/source/Callow_(surname)), [Cottier](/source/Cottier_(surname)), [Garrett](/source/Garrett_(name)), Kennish, and [Teare](/source/Teare) families of [Maughold](/source/Maughold_(parish)).<ref name=Manx_Holt/> Thomas Cottier arrived in Holt County in 1847, and through his influence approximately 500 Manx people immigrated to the state from the island.<ref name=HoltAchison>{{cite book |url= https://mdh.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/mocohist/id/31467/ |title= History of Holt and Atchison counties, Missouri |year= 1882 |page= 314 |access-date= April 19, 2025}}</ref>

==Settlement in Ohio==
The city of [Cleveland](/source/Cleveland%2C_Ohio), Ohio, is said{{who|date=April 2025}} to have the highest concentration of Americans of Manx descent in the United States. They predominantly descend from the village of [Andreas](/source/Andreas%2C_Isle_of_Man) on the northern side of the Isle of Man. From 1822 onwards, many families such as the [Corlett](/source/Corlett) family became farmers and leased land from the [Connecticut Land Company](/source/Connecticut_Land_Company). In 1826, more families such as the [Kelley](/source/Kelley_(name))s, Teares, and [Kneen](/source/Kneen)s established themselves in [Newburgh](/source/Newburgh%2C_Ohio), which would encourage more Manx settlement into the area. Cleveland was a town of only six hundred people. A population grew to around 3000 of both Manx-born and of Manx descent, bound together by their [Manx language](/source/Manx_language) and customs. Among the immigrants was William Corlett, who donated land for the community's log schoolhouse so Manx children would be educated in their native Manx and English languages.<ref>[https://case.edu/ech/articles/b/british-immigration BRITISH IMMIGRATION] – Immigrants from England, the Isle of Man, Scotland, and Wales</ref><ref>[https://books.google.com/books?id=XGhLJ2AacqAC&dq=st+manx+school+ohio&pg=PA88 British Buckeyes: The English, Scots, and Welsh in Ohio, 1700-1900] – By William E.
