Born in [Ipoh](/source/Ipoh) in 1986,<ref name="CAP" /> Manrick Singh first represented Malaysia at Under-19 level, playing in the [2003 Youth Asia Cup](/source/2003_Youth_Asia_Cup),<ref name="OthM">[http://www.cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Players/67/67315/Other_matches.html Other matches played by Manrick Singh] at CricketArchive</ref> a tournament in which Malaysia reached the final before losing to Nepal.<ref>[https://www.cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Scorecards/77/77600.html Scorecard] of Malaysia Under-19s v Nepal Under-19s, 27 July 2003 at CricketArchive</ref> He made his debut for the senior side in the annual [Saudara Cup](/source/Saudara_Cup) match against [Singapore](/source/Singapore_national_cricket_team) in September 2003.<ref name="OthM" />
